Kazakhstan Pollution
At school, we were celebrating Veterans Day. In our grade, all the classes were doing different things. My class was doing essays on why we're proud to be Americans. My friend, Aanya, got first place. You'll get to see Aanya's essay after mine. Here's mine:
"I am proud to be an American for many reasons. Believe it or not, some people are ashamed of their country. Not me. I enjoy listening to the historic stories of America's past...
"The U.S.A. has been protected by it's people, it's Constitution, and Bill of Rights for a long time. The Constitution protects many rights; our right to vote, equality under law, right of education, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion, to name a few. But there are some things it can't protect, like the three planes crashing into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on 9/11. Those disastrous situations killed many people, but fire fighters, soldiers, and police saved many people, and risked their own lives for it.
"And it wasn't just 9/11, either. The U.S.A. chose (the fairest) sides in World Wars I and II and fought for not only our country, but many, many others. Many people at home were and still are generous enough to go out and help our trained and armed forces.
"The United States of America is also the chief of immigration. More people immigrate to America than any other country. Because of this, America is really well-organized, and knows what it's doing. For example, most people wouldn't immigrate to Kazakhstan because of the horrible phase of pollution it's going through. We're lucky because our people make sure that that doesn't happen to us.
"Lastly, I'm glad that America isn't personally restricted. We're allowed to wear whatever we want as long as it's appropriate for where we're going. We're allowed to eat whatever we desire. We're allowed to have a big or small family, and have the job we want. We get to choose our lifestyle.
"In conclusion, America is a really amazing, unique country that I'm proud to be a part of. I can't imagine being more grateful than I already am. America is my home, and I don't want to change that because if I had been living somewhere else, I could've been beat, yelled at, pushed around, told what to do, and controlled throughout my whole life. I don't want that."
And here's Aanya's:
"I’m proud to be an American for many reasons. But, the biggest reason I’m proud to be an American is that our country and it’s people are strong and brave.
One reason I’m proud to be an American is that in the U.S.A we have many determined veterans. The irreplaceable veterans put their lives on the line multiple times for us. They are the reason why we are safe and united as a country. They are the reason why we are not in chaos. Veterans and soldiers have a big role in keeping our nation safe and they always find a way to do it.
Another reason I’m proud to be an American is that we, the American people, unlike many other countries have a Bill of Rights. In my opinion, the most important amendment on the Bill of Rights is the 1st amendment. This amendment says we have the right to practice any religion(s) we want or none at all. It also says, that we have the right to say and express our ideas and thoughts, unlike other countries where they could lock you up for saying your opinion. We have the freedom of the press. This means we have the right to say or write anything we want as long as it is not hurtful on T.V., the newspaper, magazines, and even the radio. In other countries they could kill you for saying your personal opinion.
And last, but definitely not least, we always try our hardest. Whether it’s a student in school or soldier in war, we never back down or give up because the task is to hard. We always try our best and excel. The American people are never satisfied, so they reach for the stars. We always try to be judicious and use our good thinking and judgement in difficult and tough situations. The people of the U.S. never back down or ever will. I’m very proud to be an American because we are strong and brave. Even though here in the U.S.A we are all different, we are alike in many ways and this means I can be myself and shine. And finally, may God bless the U.S.A!"
